Ottawa police make 2 arrests in

With robberies ranging from street level targets to bank heists, the Ottawa police robbery unit has released an updated list of its 10 most wanted criminals.

Released Thursday, the list runs the gamut of robbery types and suspect profiles.

The robbery unit usually has about 100 open investigations at any given time, said Staff Sgt. Mike Haarbosch, and the cases on the list are those in which police have enough information and a photo available to make an arrest more likely.

The suspects on the list are wanted in connection with robberies of taxis, jewelry stores, a convenience store and banks.

On Nov. 15 cops charged Michael Bingham, 35, in connection with the robbery of a retail store Skechers Canada on McCarthy Rd. in March 2011 when a masked man with a handgun demanded money from an employee. The man then tied her up and fled with the cash.

Bingham is charged with using a firearm in the commission of an offence, robbery, intimidation, pointing a firearm, forcible confinment, uttering threats, wearing a disguise, assault and fraudulent use of credit.

Bingham is already in custody for an Skechers Canada unrelated offence and scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Police also charged Jeffrey Finnegan, 54, in a robbery dating back to December 2009 when a man entered a Richmond Rd. bank and passed the teller a note demanding cash.

Finnegan was charged on Monday with a single count of robbery. He was also already in custody on an unrelated matter.

No one was injured during either robbery.
